Yes... Definately... "Beef Liver" ala AL

Most people dislike liver due to the flavor of it, but the way I fix it the taste is unbelieveable and simple to do.

First off I have a butcher slice my Beef Liver to be no more then 1/4 inch thick (any thicker then that it would be hard to change the flavor).

I marinate the liver in Buttermilk. (I know...oh yuck, I hate the taste of buttermilk) Well I have news for you. Buttermilk is a necessity in making liver taste great. Try it you'll see.

While the liver is marinating, fry the Bacon and Onions in separate pans. **Save** the grease from the Bacon and use the Bacon grease for frying the Liver in.

Once the Bacon and Onions are fried, whip 2 or 3 eggs into a bowl adding part of the Buttermilk to the eggs.

Mix 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of cornmeal and a tablespoon of black pepper together in another dish. (No Salt is needed)

Place liver into egg and buttermilk mixture then dust it through the flour and cornmeal and into the hot bacon grease to fry. Fry until brown and it's ready for serving with the Bacon and Onions.

Walla.... Fried Liver, Onions and Bacon ala AL

Suprise them when they ask you what it is and tell them just that it's Beef. When all have eaten... you can spring the suprise and tell them they have just eaten Beef Liver.

NOTE: This will not work with Pork Liver.

I grew up with having calves liver once a week. We made it by rinsing the liver, patting dry, and rolling it in a mix of flour and salt and black pepper and then frying it in some butter in a cast iron skillet along with adding bacon and onions until tender. Overcooking and high temperature heat will make it tough so cook until just tender.Don't use too much butter as the fat from the bacon will provide most of the cooking grease. If you use beef liver, (from older cows not calves) the flavor will be more intense and the liver tougher because it is from an older animal. It is a great dish and I always look for it in restaurants.

Dude, stop eating liver. It is the garbage bag of the body and has all kinds of undigestable minerals, blood, and all kinds of crap in there. Seriously, it's bad for you. Ask your personal physician or nutritionist. I would eat heart or kidney before liver. It's a cleaner organ.

NO!
I think eating liver is disgusting enough ,but if the idea of eating a filter out of an animal, containing everything gross that was filtered,is not reason enough to not eat this, you'd think the smell would be!!!Sorry, but I think it's in the top 5 sick things people eat.
I 'd rather eat lawn.

Slice some onions, and fry those with the liver. Now look what you did. I'm hungry.

No, not liver itself, but I do like the onions the liver is "smothered" with. My mother used to tell me, "You might as well eat the devil as to drink his broth!"

Yes I love liver! I coat it with flour, and fry it in canola oil. I love to add onions as well. It was a favorite of mine and my dad.

I eat it with some fava beans and a nice chianti......

Seriously, its just gross. The body's filter for toxins and all kinds of crap. Its only redeeming quality is its high in iron. You can take supplements for that. Dont eat liver, yuuukkkkkk.....
