Right now, you should be student, until you finish high school at least. Things tend to work itself out. Maybe even go to college and see if you like anything else.

Summary: Don't make life decisions like jobs when you're 14.

Here is your plan.....you work on both soccer and being a musician. You keep your grades up to at least the mid-80's. If you are that good a soccer player you can get a scholarship to a division 1 school. You can then get a great education, if you are good enough to go pro, at that point go for it.

If not, you have a good education and can get a decent job.

The same thing for music I would think, my son was a jock not a musician so I am not sure of how the music path would work.

In the meantime, think what you would like to do, if you did have to get a job that did not involve playing soccer or music.

Maybe an athletic trainer, or a music teacher, maybe a physical therapist or a recreational therapist, maybe a nurse or a doctor.

You are young, you will change your mind many times in the next few years.
Enjoy being a kid while you can!

At this point you should be keeping an open mind. Try all sorts of things so that you can make that decision down the road. Even though there are not a lot of WWF stars who play violin, there's no reason why you can't do soccer and music.

Getting a job in pro sports or music is very tough because there aren't a lot of openings so in addition to these careers you also want to make sure you get your diploma (and maybe even a college degree) so you can you can be prepared for whatever life brings you.

You sound like a bright young man, so best of luck in your future.

What an awesome question! Maybe there is hope for the future!
I think you should work your craft on both, so if you're ever injured and can't play soccer, you can always have music to fall back on. They are both your passions, so why choose? I certainly wish you the best, and wish that their were more 14 year olds like you.

Relax. No one expects you to commit to a career at 14. Certainly, you should be planning for college by selecting courses in school that will help you in college, but for now, just dream a little. There is plenty of time to figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life.

Mikey, be a kid as long as you can. Enjoy being a teenager and your friends. Do what you like to do and are good at. Stay in school and get your education, by the time you are ready graduate from High School, you may have a better idea what you want to do later in life.

OMG. if youre a musician you are gonna be dirt poor living in your parents baasement forever. and you are not gonna be a famous athlete, you might as well have a plan to win the lottery.

study and get a real job, like lawyer, doctor, etc. dont mess up your whole life.

Unless you are planning on being a serious professional musician... not like a rockstar, I mean play in a professional orchestra... don't decide yet.

If you are planning on being a musician, the real kind, practice a ton daily.

You have several years before you have to pick a career. It should be something you like doing, so your best bet is to think about careers that are based on your favorite interests and/or subjects in school.
