Although I am an avid Christian, I do not believe in the Bible word for word. Anyone who does is a fool. There is no possible way that everything in the Bible is true, because some things contradict each other. Some things are right on. Others are outright wrong. Which is which? Who knows. The Bible has been changed and altered through the years by being translated through many many differnet languages. I don't think anyone knows what the original Bible said, but I'm sure its basically the same thing. =)

While the Bible IS "God's Word", it is not meant to be taken in literal terms. The Bible is written in metaphors and parables. People who take the Bible at "face value", word for word, are missing the real message behind it. Just like in life...everything in the Bible is "relative". "Fundamentalist" Christians get the real meanings of scripture twisted around pretty badly sometimes, by taking it literally...like the people who handle deadly snakes and drink poison! That is just CRAZY!
That is NOT how people talked back then. They talked in metaphors, and that is how they wrote. You have to take into consideration how people communicated back in the day when the Bible was written, and you have to find the message that is behind what they are actually saying...THAT is what is important. The "spirit" of the word, not just the words themselves, is where the true messages of the Bible are. It takes more than just reading the words on the page. It takes contemplation and consideration.

I believe extremely smart men who were extremely close to God wrote the Bible.I envision them sitting in the kerosene lamplight with half-full inkwells listening to a God that can speak out loud to them from somewhere because they were so clean on their insides that they could withstand His audible voice without the interference of shame or humility that would usually make a man run out of 'the Garden'.
The Bible is a story consisting of so many tiny Metaphors that make up one big one.The odd thing is is that the main plot of its contents is True while the themes are tweaked as if watching a movie that is 'based on a true story'.The Bible has some harsh words in it that only turn us around inside by counteracting the balance of good and evil in humans.Because when people hear of tragedy combined with the knowledge of a someone(God) who can do absolutely anything they realize their own weaknesses and injustices are insignificant in life.
YES I DO BELEIVE IN THE BIBLES EXPRESSION and the outcomes of its purposes have played a detrimentral role inside of my soul and strengthened my intelligence through its reasoning.
I just about forget sometimes what it said:JESUS WAS AND IS AND IS TO COME and I believe He lived 2000 years ago but I ALSO believe in what the Bible ultimately says metaphorically expressing that JESUS RETURNS 'IN SPIRIT' UPON THE EARTH.

The bible was written by some monk in some far off monetary in the middle east at a time when only one in a million people could read or write. You could convince those people of anything. (Ancient marketing?) As for Mr. Readkoran your even more stupid than the Jesus freaks if you think god dictated the koran.
Your a moron. Organized religion is the root of all evil. Especially true if your one of these Islamic criminals that like to chop off heads and blow up little kids. By the way, I have read the koran and its just as much garbage as the bible (which I have also read).

There are now more than 60 versions of the Bible(Different versions not translations The different versions of the Bible are not merely different translations, but are actually versions i.e. they add and remove things from other versions)
These revisions serve as concrete proofs that all the Biblical books are not at all divinely inspired. This is because it is beyond man's ability to correct the work of his Creator, who alone is Almighty and perfect
The Bible is a collection of writings by many different authors. The Qur'an is a dictation. The speaker in the Qur'an - in the first person - is God talking directly to man. In the Bible you have many men writing about God and you have in some places the word of God speaking to men and still in other places you have some men simply writing about history.
The previous scriptures were meant for a limited period (and a specific people) that ended with the revelation of what abrogated them and exposed what had taken place in them of distortion and change. That is why they were not protected from corruption
There is a violent debate amongst Christians regarding which Bible to use and which christianity... catholic...protestant...morman...arthosex..more than 70 they do not agree about who is GOD
Muslims believe in the books of the previous prophets including the "Torah" which was sent to Moses, the "Zaboor" (Psalms) which were given to David, the "Injeel" (Gospel) which was given to Jesus, and the Qur'an which was given to Muhammad However, Muslims are told that the previous scriptures were tampered with by mankind and the Bible should only be accepted in as far as it is confirmed by the Qur'an. It is to be treated with respect, however any statements which clearly oppose those of the Qur'an are to be rejected as the work of mankind.

I never consider wether i believe every word or not. I believe in the message, i believe that i cant say that something of this nature is 100% right or wrong, and anyone that says they know for a fact the writing are perfect, definetly needs to reevaluate there ego. In other words i dont think thats the importance of the bible.
