I can't see your tooth, so I can only speculate. If it has been comfortable for a few days and suddenly started to hurt, the tooth might have a crack in it. It could either be down in the root somewhere or in the top part of the tooth. Go back to the endodontist and get it checked out. Sometimes, the top wil crack, but in a way that creates a sharp point just under the edge of the gum and it can poke you and hurt like heck. The good news is, at least this kind of fracture is usually possible to deal with. If the root is cracked, there is no good news to share at all...

It can be normal, you may need to be on an antibiotic. Anytime when having a root canal either first time or second if it had abscessed then you had it sealed up by finishing the root canal you can trap bacteria at the tip of the root causing pain. Because it has no place to go. Antibiotics will help with the pain. I would call your dentist and try that before you seriously consider having it pulled, you have done a lot to try and save it, I would definitely check into other options.

Discomfort is normal 24-48 hours after a root canal. Contact your dentist and let them know you are still having pain. Sometimes, a root canal can't save the tooth and it need to be removed. Hope this isn't your case.

MADISON, IT'S NOT UNUSUAL TO FEEL PAIN AFTER HAVING A ROOT CANAL -- ALTHOUGH AS YOU WELL KNOW THIS SHOULDN'T BE SEVERE. CONTACT THE DENTIST WHO DID THE WORK TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING HE CAN DO. IF THIS WAS AN UPPER FIRST MOLAR, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A 4rth CANAL WAS MISSED. I'D GO BACK AND TELL THE DENTIST OF THE PAIN.

A root canal is where they file out the root inside of the tooth. they are supposed to take the nerve too. If they miss any of it, pain is what happens.
ah, it's more involved than that. Here's a good page with real info on it.

I have one doing the same thing, the dentist when doing a root canal
leaves a steel pin in the canal where the root used to be, I think mine is digging into my jaw bone... when I chew on that tooth it really hurts where the bone is.
