well i have asony hi8 camcorder that only came i with an a/v outlet but my laptop doesnt have an a/v outlet. i found a dirve or something i can plug the a/v in and it has a usb attached to it. i cant find it again. i dont know what to search for. help somebody. i need it for school.

I presently import video into Windows .avi files with an EZMaker USB 2.0. It's a piece of hardware that takes the A/V from your camera, and sends the image-data through the USB, and the audio data through the soundcard. I capture, edit, and save the video with Windows Movie Maker. IM me if you need more help.

I had the same problem. I went to circuit city and had to buy another cable one end has the usb connection and the other has the special camcorder av connection, it was like 30 bucks!

Hi, i used to use a program called pinnacle studio online which is very cheap but useful, i think it is about ten bucks but you could probably download it from somewhere.
