I figure if you can live with it, go for it. There is a stumbling block if your spouse doesn't like it, but you two seem to have that well in hand. As for the tattoo, I'm 44 and just got my first one. It really didn't hurt and I was deathly afraid of it hurting. I had it on my L shoulder, though, where there is some padding. The Tattoo Artist, Peter, said that the most pain comes from places with very little flesh (near bones and on the face and head) underneath them. Mine felt no worse than a slight scratch until he started shading it and then it stung a bit). have a good time but make certain none of the grand-kids grab that R ear and pull...we wouldn't want it coming off like a perforated piece of paper...ow ow ow!!!

You rock.

I have my ears pierced, and also my nose (nostril), plus I have 4 completed tattoos, and am planning more. I absolutely cannot wait to be 20 years older than I am right now (I am 38) and still be loaded up on ink and titanium.

And don't fear the tattoo. Find a good artist with a gentle hand (women are usually gentler than men, and apply less pressure) who can help you plan a place where it doesn't hurt so much. The only one of mine that really really hurt was my foot.

And don't let anyone give you any guff about what you like and what you want on your body, because the choice is entirely up to you.

I think that's great!! :) I have 8 tattoos, and trust me, if you have kids, you can handle the pain of a tattoo! I am sure it's nothing compared to childbirth. The way I describe it is kind of the way it feels when you get waxed, that type of pain, but constant during the tattoo. You can handle it!

However, I think it is important that your husband accepts the tattoo you get. Maybe he can help you pick out a design and/or go with you when you get it. That way, he'll have input and feel involved. Tattoos are sexy and cool, hopefully he'll warm up to the piercings and the tattoo idea! Good luck!

I think it's pretty cool, and I'm almost 60. But why do you do things that piss off your husband?
I got a tattoo on my right breast when I was 52--didn't hurt a bit. (Hell, I delivered a ten lb. baby when I was 34--and I'm small. If I could go thru' that, what can a little needle do?) It IS an annoying feeling, and you want to be very, very careful about who does it and how you have it done! New needles, new ink, license, etc. (Think AIDS and hepatitis...)

You go girl--have fun!

P.S. Eyebrow piercing is OUT--at least in the Detroit/Grosse pte. area
Anyway, you go girl--have fun!!

Depends on where you get the tattoo, how badly it hurts.I have four, and the one on my shoulder blade didn't hurt at all. It's the smallest, though.I have a huge one on my outer thigh that was my first, and it hurt like heck. The good thing about that is that my husband is the artist.I got the first one when I was 29(2 years ago)after saying I would never get one.I don't regret it.You can take the piercings out if you get tired of them, and you can get a tattoo that can be covered if you want it to be.Get one if you want it,just be selective. We hardly regret what we do.It's what we don't do that gets us!

I think you are too old for this type of thing. I am only 22 and I believe when you have children you need to set a good example and not look trashy. I have a 3 year old daughter and I do not want people to think that I am a bad mother ( you know they do ) because of having those.

It might be better to get a tattoo when you are your age. Your body has already started to droop a little so it's easier to see where things might end up. I pity some of the girls who have designs around the belly button and stuff.
