If you are using your old drive still as Drive C, then YES, you can continue to use that installation.

But if your new drive is the BOOT drive (C), then you can try to reinstall Windows Xp with the CD that you got. GO for it.

Nope. You will have to re-activate Windows XP because you have changed the configuration of your original computer. When you activated Windows XP on the pre-upgrade computer, it registers the configuration of that computer. It knows the type CPU and mobo that you have. If you disconnect the mobo for repair or pull the CPU, the result is the same.

Yes. When you install a different hard drive, use the system recovery disks. They contain the operating system "Windows XP".

it depends! if your going the upgrade all except for hard disk, the configuration registered on the windows xp will not match to the new one. it may not work or you to reinstall some drivers. but your going to just upgrade some parts, no problem! you just to upgrade some drivers.

Yes, the hard drive can hold any Microsoft Operating system. However, the computer may not be able to hold it. Check with microsoft.com to see if you can handle XP.

If you install it to a different partition. That is the best way. Othewise, you have to do a parallel installation to a new 'windows' directory, not a good idea though.

get Mobil media hard drive trays http://www.genica.com . switch hard drives & operateing systoms in seconds. i use them there great! if you change the mobo you may halve to re install xp with the mobo drivers to your new board.

You can keep you old hard drive and just add a second hard drive as a slave

No... That wont work.. You will get s ablue screen. When you upgrade or chnage your motherboard + CPU you need to re-install Windows or if you want to try something different: http://ubuntu.com
