That is a really good question. I know that they don't have to be virgins. In fact, I have heard that they will send out young people to experience life. I don't think a divorced woman can be a nun though because I know that divorce is a bad thing in the church. I think a widowed woman can but I don't think a divorced one can.

as long as the reason for divorce is in line with a good reason for divorce, like abuse. Or if the person is widowed. as far as the divorce issue goes, i would suggest asking a priest on the exact reasons. Most of the time convents will accept women from about 18-40. some accept older vocations, and most require at least 2 years of college.

I've heard that nuns consider their spiritual lives to begin when they take their vows. That they sometimes come from horrible lives and give it all up to become nuns. I don't think it's so much that they need to be virgins as it is they need to not have sex as long as she is a nun.

Only if she has had an anullment or is widowed. In which case the answer is yes. But by the by there are groups that live in community but are considered third order seculars that do live this type of life and can be seperated or divorced.

Nope. A nun's gotta be like 7-up, as the old slogan goes:
"Never had it, never will."

The only requirements are to be a practicing Catholic and to not be married. That's all.

I would assume it's possible, since a man who was once married, whose wife died, can become a priest.
