Just remember -- when these people (the atheist's) die -- who do they call on? Some realize their mistake and ask for forgiveness, some just join the band of Satan -- so sad -- but we still must pray for all of them.....

Stand up for Christ -- Be not ashamed -- forgive or HE will not forgive you -- God Is So Good.

Have a Blessed Week

I'll answer only those questions I have an answer for. The bible is a fairy tale, but one with a great publicity behind, and a huge industry that has supported it for the last twenty centuries. No wonder, it succeeded, and a religion was based on it!

Why don't I believe the bible is reasonable? Simple, it lacks back-up. It's one opinion without independent sources stating about the same. It's like I said I'm god, just because I say I'm god, and you have to believe it, because I'm god and I'm saying it. Why would you even bother to listen to me!? Well, this is the same, only that people have been buying this story for so long that it seems it's justified. But it's no more than just pretty wishful thinking.

What started the separation between Jews and Christians? Well, that you should ask a Jew or a Christian. What do I know about that?

d_chino_m gives a good answer. how do you account for the things that are described by other religions but not your own? are you going to admit that hinduism is correct because if it gives a better account of the history of india than christianity does? the reason why christianity explains those things you mention is that those events were what was going on in that part of the world at the time. if a more or less accurate historical account of what was occurring in that region is enough to make the entire bible true, then you would have to admit that similarly accurate accounts exist in many other religions. You either have to say that simply being able to account for historical events is not sufficient proof of the truth of a religion, or you have to admit that there are a lot of other true religions besides christianity.

Finally, there are non-theistic historical accounts of the history of the christians and jews, so atheists can account for what has happened historically and why there are still separations between jews and christians.

You could have just stated "For Atheists", as atheism already refers to people. I don't believe that the bible is a fairy tale, that would be absurd. I believe the bible exists, and I believe religion exists, I just don't believe a god exists.

The Christian religion was an offshoot of Judaism, and was begun by the followers and believers of Jesus Christ, a man originally accepted as a prophet, then 300 years after his death, declared to be the son of god.

I do not believe that the Bible is reasonable because it describes events and ideas that are inaccurate and untrue. I agree with Christ's teachings, as they are loving and accepting, but I do not think that Christians follow these teachings very well.

The separation between the Jews and Christians is a disagreement over Jesus Christ. Christians believe he was god, and Jews do not. The separation exists today because it was never mended, and Christianity developed into an entirely separate religion.

Feel free to email me with any other questions.

I believe the concept of religion to be a sociological construct designed to keep societies cohesive in a time when written law didn't exist.

I believe the bible is a series of books, individual histories written by men and that each book is meant to stand on its own was never meant to be in the form you find it today. As with all history there is inherent bias to the writer and perceptions differ which give contradictions because different people see the same event differently.

As such, I do not believe the bible to be entirely false or entirely true.. it is likely a mixture but separating fact from fiction is very hard since I do believe it has been selectively put together by early christianity.

I believe Jesus of Nazareth was likely a real person but he was not divine.. but he was a wise man for his time period. As such I don't believe in deities.

Religion still exists today because some people still feel the need for it. It is a form of group consciousness. If one wants to be a part of that I have absolutely no problem as that is their personal choice. I respect the rights of individuals.

Why did the Roman religion come about. How did Buddhism come about? How did Scientology come about? Somebody had an idea of what life was all about and apparently millions of people feel the same way. If you believe in God and the bible, that is fine. I don't. I was a christian for 20+ years. I just happened to read alot of "other" books and they seemed to make more sense to me. Sure there are things about life I don't understand, but to say it happened because some great being decided it was to be, that just seems like an easy answer to a tough question. As to why people believe. It helps you sleep at night. People(including me) have a hard time dealing with the thought that this is it. That you only get one shot at life. It's much easier to believe we will live for eternity in some grand place. I believe the bible has some great moral lessons, but so do many of the nursery rhymes I was told as a child. If it makes your life complete to believe, then believe. Just remember this little lesson, "Judge not lest ye be judged"

After the destruction of the temple in 60 AD and the dispersion of the Jews, many Jews could no longer accept the old religion, so they invented a new religion using the myth of Jesus, who may or may not have existed, to explain the decline of Jud ism.

Do you think the Egyptian, or Greek, or Nordic, or pagan, or Hindu, or Buddhist, or Taoist, or aboriginal, or African religions are real or myths?

How did they come about?

The same way yours did. It is an adaptation of previous beliefs customized for a new culture. You are apparently unaware of how much Christianity has absorbed from hundreds of other non-Jewish-christian religions.

I bet you think Jesus was born on December 25th too huh?

I'll make it as simple as possible. The Christians thought Jesus was the son of God and the Jews didn't and they went their separate ways and now everyone is happy. They are happy aren't they.

The evolution of the religion happened over thousands of years.

There's a lot of legend and psychology that plays into it.

Read A History of God, by Karen Armstrong. It's great. Also, Moses and Monotheism, by Sigmund Freud. He's not entirely right, but he does have some interesting ideas of looking at how the religion came to be about.

I don't think (most) athiests refute that there was someone that claimed to be Jesus and did conversion. The question is whether or not this person was legitimately the son of an entity known as god, and moreover, whether or not if this god does in fact exist, whether or not the things detailed in the bible and said by Jesus are true.

Even accepting Jesus as a divine superpower, that doesn't make anything in the bible true. Maybe Jesus was just a space alien who wanted to screw with us or something.
