Hi all -- My boyfriend will graduate USNA this year and most likely go on to flight school in Pensacola, FL to become a pilot or NFO. I'm wondering what life has been like for people in similar situations. Also, the perspective of a wife, girlfriend, etc. would be very helpful. Thanks!

the Aviation Community is very different than the rest of the Officer Community. It is both closer and more difficult.
The first several years will be spent training, training and training. He will spend just as much time learning the ropes in Pepsicola or Texas as he has at the Academy.
It's a tough life, it is NOT for everyone and you msut be a very strong individual to survive it. and that's before they get assigned to a squadron, ship or sub and actually go out and do the job.

Well mine is just an e-3 int he navy on a destroyer , but I can tell you that he will be on a carrier more than likely, and will be deployed quite a bit.
He will get hazard pay that's for sure.
Just be super patient because he will be gone a lot. Btw if you can stay away from Norfolk, these boys are gone all the time. Mine has been gone for about 7 months so far this year and has 3 more months to go before he's finally home.

Well the only thing I can say is my situation is a little different..My Fiance is in the Infantry.Its hard with him being away from me...All I get is Phone calls,and letters.I wont lie it does take a toll on a realtionship...but if your love is strong enough you will get through it all.For example..My Fiance has friends on post with him of course I talk to them every once in awhile...however one of his ex friends is supposely trying to come between us....They are all supposed to be brothers..however there is still drama that unfolds.However I know it may sound bad..but like i said if your love is strong you will get through it...we are and we will continue too.What our men need is for us to stand by them so on that note Good Luck and take care
