Apply as many drops of Dawn (or other de-greaser liquid detergent) as are needed to cover the stained area.

Grab the sides of the stain in each hand and rub your knuckles against eachother so the Dawn is worked well into the stain. Let it sit several hours. (dry, not soaking in water)

Then heat water to boiling in a tea kettle. Gently pour a few streams of boiling water directly onto the stain (not enough to saturate the shirt or you risk shrinking it).

Then toss the shirt into the regular cycle you would use to wash it (I would suggest cold water for a cotton shirt to reduce the risk of shrinkage).

Allow the shirt to line dry instead of using the dryer. That way you will know if you've gotten the stain out before you accidentally "set" the stain in the dryer.

Try a liquid stain remover if you don't have any of that then use dawn dishwashing liquid concentrated right on the stain. soak the stain in it let sit for a minute then rub and scrub the spot blot with paper towel and reapeat. then use color safe bleach and wash with that but remember to let it soak in it over night in the washer by stopping mid cycle in the morning turn the washer back on and let it go through the cycle. DO NOT DRY the shirt until there is no evidence of the spot. if all else fails take it to the dry cleaner and tell them what the stain is.......GOOD LUCK !

on just about any oil stain (cooking, grease, motor), you should use something like a dawn dishwashing detergent - something that is made to cut grease. put it on the stain, rub it, let it sit a few minutes, then put it in the washing machine.

I tend to use talcum powder(baby powder is good) over the stain, leave for a while then wash as normal.

wet it with water and put a few drops of dawn dish soap on it and rub it in REALLY well, I sometimes use an old tooth brush, then launder. It has worked for me more than once.

My mom puts baby powder (or cornstarch) on any grease spills on her clothes, then uses dawn the next day to get the rest out. Good luck
