Think about it this way, Jesus will never heal us from sin (in this life) to the point where we don't need him anymore. You know? What if everyone got saved, baptized, baptized in the spirit, and then never sinned? Who gets the glory in that? The sinless person would!
Jesus doesn't want us to come to a place where we are doing it without him. He wants to be our support system, even if that means we sin sometimes. God isn't afraid that we might mess up sometimes. He's more concerned with our relationship with him.
Does this give us license to sin as much as we want to because it increases God's grace? Of course not! It just means that when we do sin, we need to repent and the accept God's forgiveness and move on.

Madball,
You are not alone. Many of those, who enter into the path of Christianity, struggle as you do. I know the pain, and the guilt, of always coming up short with God. It got to the point, where I left the church, because I felt unworthy of the leadership which had been placed in my hands. It turned out to be the best thing I ever did in my walk with our Father. After initially going through some pretty tough months of feeling like a backslider, I finally realized that it was God Himself, who led me to depart from my religious responsibilities. It may sound odd, but I was so busy with all my church jobs, that I had little or no time for God Himself. In the two years that have passed, I have finally found what I have been looking for, all along. I have rediscovered the reason Jesus really came to earth in the first place. He brought us a message, both simple, and elegant. "The Kingdom of God, is within you". When we come to God as humble children, and honestly invite Him into our hearts, He sends His Spirit into us, and bonds with us. We become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. In time, the old values of materialism and fear fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. We have embarked on the Path of Eternity, and we will never be the same again. Jesus said, that if we have not had this Spiritual Rebirth, we shall not enter the Kingdom of God. I promise you, that when you fully surrender your will to the Spirit, and do God's Will above your own, the power of the flesh will fade. Be patient with yourself, and try to remember how much your Father loves you. I have found that increasing your prayers for others, helps break the shackles of old sin habits. You do not come out of the baptism, a finished product. Your growth, and spiritual education, will go on forever. Take peace, in the knowledge that the Indwelling Spirit is there to make sure you arrive at your destination.

1. Realize this part of the truth: you will face and battle temptations until you are free of the dying body you are now in. The battle rages daily, nobody gets a "bye", except perhaps those who suffer severe persecution from outside.
2. Let God work through your weaknesses. He can even use them to reach other people. How can you tell an alcoholic person that God can deliver them from their struggle, if you have never st ruggled yourself? Etc. It really helps to relate!
3. Don't pass out on this one: take a clue from our Catholic brethren, and FIND A CONFESSOR. You would be AMAZED how open confession of sins can cure you of the desire to do that sin again! Especially if you can see the expression on the other person's face when you tell them what you are struggling with.... Remember, God said "it is not good for the man to be alone". While that verse is referring to the lack of a physical mate, it helps in other areas too.
Two very important guidlines for a confessor/confidant are:
A. Spiritual Maturity--don't pick the church Gossip, for heaven's sake! Make sure this person can be trusted as an elder in Christ (at least elder than you).
B. Lack of Sexual Attraction -- DO NOT CHOOSE someone as a confidant, if you think you could date them at any point in the future! The more you open your heart to someone (and they to you) the more you will bond as people. Sexual attractions can REALLY mess up this relationship!
God Bless.

Do you believe you can loose your salvation? If so, then you must have thought you had something to do with getting saved. If so, you may not really be saved. Paul tells us that works do not get us into heaven. ALL have sinned, romans 3:23. If when you got saved you fully surrendered to Jesus and understood you did not deserve or earn this, then you are saved. However, our flesh is strong and will still cause us to sin. You need to mortify the flesh daily as Paul teaches. Paul speaks of a war in his members, where flesh and spirit are fighting. If he struggled than I don't think there is much hope for us. I can see your confusion, since the bible also teaches that we are dead to sin once we are saved. Dead men can't sin. Meaning that we are free from sin. So when we sin we are totally responsible---our flesh is taking over. Pray for strength and be in the Word daily.

Continue to pray for your sins and don't give up.Satan will lie to you as you know and will even make you feel that God is not listening and you may even start believing it.I did once and then I figured out what and who was behind the way I felt and over time, alot of time slowly but surely the sins I felt guilty for started to go away, not saying I'm not still tempted because I am but the lord made it easier for me to resist it.I am a penticostal also and have been all my life and it is the best out of all the different branches of religions there is. Most of our churches preach what needs to be preached not what the congregation wants to hear.I still can't understand why there are so many different christian believes or who's right and who's wrong nor am I saying we are better.I do know we believe in what the whole bible says and we practice them.I believe that's alot of why a atheist is a atheist, they look at our religion and see's all these different believes and it overwhelms them.

Number one thing you need to do is believe and trust in what the Lord Jesus Christ did for you on the cross. He died for your sins, He was buried and took your sins away and He rose again the third day for your justification. He did it all and you had no part in it except to have faith in that. You are not born again and water baptism only get you wet. Those are works. In John Chapter 3 the Lord Jesus Christ had not died for anybody. The Nation of Israel will be born again when they go into the earthly kingdom on earth. Ephesians 2: 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

I am a Nazarene.
Nazarenes believe the same as Pentecostals and what you are longing for is Entire Sanctification.
We believe that once you are saved, you will realize that you cannot live a holy life on your own and you will desire to be more like Jesus Christ.
By giving your life completely and absolutely over to the Lordship of Jesus Christ you will be set apart (Sanctified) and will be able to live the holy life that God has called all Born-again Christians to.

As an apostolic, you believe that you have to follow a very narrow path, filled with rules, especially the women,(don't cut your hair, always wear long skirts, no pants, no makeup, no jewelry etc) You have give your hear to the Lord, been baptized in water, and filled with the Spirit. But you still struggle with sin. You are no different that Paul, who wanted to do one thing and did another. We all struggle with sin. As long as we are in this flesh, we will have a continual struggle with sin, but, as we grow stronger in the Lord, we find it easier to resist sin. Sin is the things that God says offends him, not the things that the pastor or the church say offends them. Salvation is not dependent on what you do, but who Christ is and how you choose to love and serve Him. Learn to keep Christ your focus rather than the church, the rules, the pastor, or the church critics. It is Christ we are to please.

You are the door man to your hotel. Jesus is the man at the desk. If you allow people places and things to enter the lobby they will affect your walk with Christ. They cannot check in if Jesus is at the desk, but it is up to you to keep the lobby free from oppression. If you totally surrender your life daily and let the Holy spirit fill you before you start your day, then you have a good chance of staying in the anointing. It is the only way today. You must do the house cleaning daily. The temptations are real and satan is looking for any crack in the armor. He only knows what you have told him, so if you clean house completely everyday, his knowledge of your weak spots will not do him any good and eventually he will start to back off. "Resist the devil and he will flee." I am agreeing in prayer this moment with you and thanking God for His Holy Spirit to find favor with you and make you a student of the TRUTH.

The sad truth is that we have two conflicting natures in us that will remain in conflict as long as we remain attatched to our flesh, and maintain the renewed capabilities that God gave us. I would reccomend reading Dwight J. Pentacost's "Love God With All Your Mind".
Contrary to many stances of Christianty, we can never live a perfect life, regardless of whether or not we've accepted Christ. The fact that you feel convicted of your own sin is the evidence of the Holy Spirit's work in your life. Paul, Peter, Mark, and many others all had sin in their lives, even after their acceptence of the ressurected Christ. It is not an issue of what is allowed in our lives, though, because that would be to abuse Grace. The issue is to do your best at fulfulling God's will in your life.
