Alcohol slows down your metabolism, it is a depressant and all depressant slow you down. many times it will catch up with you later in life when youd rink alot. When I was 19-23 I drank heavy, usually didnt eat much and stayed pretty thin...now I drink a lot less, and eat instead so have gotten a little fat..I think she is thin b/c she probably skips meals to drink instead.

Anything will make you fat if you drink/eat too much of it.

That being said, alcohol is the 2nd most calorie dense substance there is. It contains 7 calories per gram. Fat contains 9 calories per gram. Protein and carbs contain 4 calories per gram.

My hubby drinks alot and he is slim. He doesn't eat cause he is drinking. Some drinks will make you fat. Like wine, beer and coolers. Rum and vodka just to name a few don't have anything in it. So she may be drinking something with no calories in it.

Alcohol does contain high calories, and can cause weight gain. But an alcoholic can be skinny because the alcohol keeps the body from absorbing any nutrients that may be obtained from food.

Well, hard alcohol, like vodka, gin, etc, do have calories, depending on what you drink its between 70-120 or so calories per ounce. However, It is what you mix it with that makes the most difference, such as sodas, syrups, mixers, juices, etc. In my opinion, light beer is the easiest drink to control your calories in because it is one set amt of cals per can or bottle. Depending on who is making your drinks, what they mix it with, and how big your servings are, you could be drinking a meals worth of calories in one night of bar hopping. So drink in moderation, and be safe, too!
