Okay so I'm going crazy. People around me are acting like I'm stinky. I've done everything and even went to see my doctor to see what's going on. I was even sweating when I got to her office and she did a "sniff" test and said she doesn't smell anything. But why to people sneeze or rub their nose around me? My doctor said it's allergy season so I shouldn't worry too much about it...but it does bother me. I check my shoes, my underarm, everything and to be honest I don't smell bad at all. I've asked closest friends and they said they don't smell anything. I do smell like I've been out in the sun after playing tennis but that's common for anyone who play sports...but one time I took a bus to go to my doctor's office and the kid kept looking at me like I stink or something. He kept rubbing his nose....and I just took a shower before leaving the house. Is it the clothing? Is it the soap? I'm not sure what else to do...I've even changed my to a healthy diet but I'm just puzzled.

Thank you for all your responses...yeah, my doctor thinks it's gotten into my head and i'm just thinking it now even though I don't stink at all she said. I have been drinking lots of water and introduced more fruits and vegetables in my diet. I do play tennis every weekend for two hours minimum which does make me sweat a lot so that should at least push out all the toxins out of my body. And yes I do shower daily, sometimes twice if I have time. I don't think it's my shoes either b/c all I can smell on them is the detergent I used to wash 'em....maybe it is all the scents coming from my soap and the detergent from my shoes. I got a guess pass from Bally's for two weeks so I'm going to try them out maybe every other day and hopefully that helps get my mind off of it. Thank you again for all your help.

If people say you don't stink, then you don't. Sneezing and eye rubbing aren't usually the result of body odor. But let's try to cover the possibilities just to make sure.

1. Bath Soap. Shower daily and use bath soap, like Dial, Irish Spring or Dove. If you work out, then shower again. And don't forget the shampoo.

2. Wash Clothes. This isn't as simple as it sounds. If you leave your clothes damp for long periods of time, like if you leave your wash in the washing machine over night, then the dampness will breed bacteria that stink, and regular washing will not kill the germs. You will need to use bleach or color safe bleach, or throw away the clothes. Because once the infected clothes gets moist again, it will stink.

3. Bad breath. See your dentist every 6 months. You should be flossing, brushing and rinsing with Listerine on a twice daily basis.

4. Body odor. If you eat a lot of onion or garlic, you will smell. The odor will seep out of your pores and people will notice. It won't matter if you shower everyday.

5. Foot odor. If you're feet are smelly and itchy, then you have foot fungus. Get Lotrimin or some other athletes foot medication and apply to your feet. Baby powder or baking soda will not kill the fungus.

6. Farting. Well, this is obvious, but I'm mentioning it to be thorough.

7. Deodorant/Antiperspirant. Use it.

Man, you should not give a darn if people rub their nose or sneeze around you. Be your own person.

If you think that you are doing things to make you stinky, then I can help you.

#1 Drink a lot of water

#2 Stay away from processed foods

#3 Always wear clean clothes

#4 Always wash your clothes well and out a shot of Pin Sol in the rinse cycle

#5 Take (I cannot spell) Chlorophyll Tablets. Those help a lot

#6 Use a strong soap and shower twice a day with hot water

#7 Use a strong tea tree oil based lotion, deodarant, and body powder

#8 Use a nice scent, like Bay Rhum or Vanilla

#9 Bring a little bit of your scent with you in a spray bottle and re apply it throughout your day

#10 Make sure everything in your house is clean and use Lysol to freshen the air

You will be alright, you mght not be using an anti persperant and deoderant...you have to buy one htat is both, you know.

It will be okay.

I don't think you stink.

From your post you've not indicated anyone actually saying you stink. And if you ask a friend, then if they're any freind at all they'll tell you.

I think you should stop worrying about it.

Oookay so that said here would be my 'if you stink advice'.

Regular cardio exercise and drinking a lot of water will fix it. Personally I use a brita filter in the fridge because its not great to drink a ton of chlorine ( some gets filtered, some evaporates ).. so anyways.. if you do an hour of cardio a day, you'll sweat lots and that detoxs you. ( this wouldn't work if you did it in a cold environment where you didn't sweat much )

I do cardio so that I feel like I'm doing work but not short of breath. I feel like I 'could' talk with someone comfortably ( but I don't, that messes it up ). Your hands should feel warm.. if they get cold you're going too fast and essentially going into a mild form of shock..

After about 3 weeks of 1 hour per day cardio ( walking to warm up and slow jogging.. cycling the next day .. and rowing the third day in the rotation ) I noticed I didn't smell when I sweat. You know those guys you see cycling to work? They don't stink when they get there. There bodies run efficiently and when they sweat its basically just water. I could exercise and not shower and smell better the next morning that your typical lazy office guy by mid-shift.. there ya go.

But I think you're just too worried about 'what other people think'. and probably don't stink at all.

I hate to say this, but you sound very anxious and paranoid.

If you are using a lot of soap, powder, deoderant, etc. because you're nervous, you might be bringing on an allergic reaction in others from the variety of scents. Relax. Shower every day, use deoderant, and maybe a little powder or cologne. Then forget about it. Your friends would tell you if there was a problem.

Well, it is allergy season, yes, so that might be the problem, kids stare at people and can sense when people are tense, you might just be paranoid, i am sure you don't smell. If you smoke you will smell like smoke and that bothers some people, same with alcohol, and similar beverages. You seem to have an anxiety problem, but other then that you seem fine.

Maybe your body odor isn't offensive. Maybe it's what you are trying to cover it up with that is offending people. I would believe your friends & your doctor. You don't smell, but you might be wearing too much perfume, cologne, body spray, etc...

What kind of laundry soap and fabric softener do you use?The combination of the scents might actually give off a not smelly but uncommon smell. You wouldnt realize because your used to it.

Are you using a 'fresh' towel after bathing! Towels do get musty! Or perhaps you're just paranoid! Maybe it's not you! I itch my nose a lot....I think it's allergies!
