No she wont go into heat anymore...but she also wont be playful like a boxer anymore, she will gain weight... but health wise, its good for the dog....I own 2 boxers, my female is having puppies September the 8, this is her first and last litter, she will also be spayed......good choice in dogs :)

Spaying a dog removes her uterus and ovaries. She no longer goes into estrus because she doesn't have the organs (the ovaries) the produce the hormones that cause her to come into estrus, and she no longer has a uterus to produce that wonderful stuff that makes a mess.

I am a member of the camp that says you don't spay your dog until she has reached sexual maturity and has gone through at least one cycle. It helps the dog with her sexual identity (I prefer female dogs as they're a little more affectionate in my opinion).

My current dog did lose a bit of muscle definition after her surgury, but she's not yet gained weight. She's still pretty playful - more so than I am.

Sorry I must disagree with your other answers. It IS possible for the dog to still go into heat if the vet fails to remove ALL of the reproductive system. If the ovaries are left they will still go into heat.

Ask the vet that you choose what procedure that they use. I didn't and ended up having a cat spayed and ended up in a mess like this.

I have a female boxer and she is spayed and has not been in heat. Get her spayed - you won't have to worry about it after that!

No, they don't. It's better to get her spayed before she goes into heat... save the mess... yuck. Once she's in heat, you do need to wait... I know it can be done during but it's more difficult.

And thank you for being a responsible pet owner! :)

No they don't go into heat thats why they are spayed so they no longer go into heat and can not get pregnant.

Yes, I think that getting her fixed is a GREAT idea! No, they do not come into heat anymore after they have been 'fixed'. That is why they get fixed. Good Luck

No they don't. This is the reason to have them spayed so there will be no more heat cycles and no puppies.
