One big reason has to do with Mary's appearances at Guadalupe in the 16th century. This event had a profound effect on Latin America; it had a lot to do with the fact that millions of native people converted to Christianity soon afterward.

I think it's cause of the fact that Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus. But I don't get why people praise her so much.....I mean, its not like she stayed a virgin after she had Jesus.
Oh and btw, latin-american is not a religion. They follow catholicism.....but I guess not Roman-catholic. lol. I wouldn't know for sure, I'm not catholic. lol.

Mary is held in extremely high esteem in Catholicism in general and appeared to Juan Diego near present day Mexico City around 1531 and subsequently because of this apparition, came to be known the single largest conversion to Christianity; from 1532 to 1538, more than eight million Indians were converted to Christianity.
Our Lady of Guadelupe is also patron of not only Mexico but of all of the Americas. Guadelupe, by the way, is not Mexican in origin, but Spanish. And the name originally was Moorish in Europe for the Wolf River..Guade-River..Lupe-Wolf.
This has a direct connection with the Dark Ages Muslims. Coincidence Mary became closely connected to that name in North America later?
The Virgin Mary is even held in high regard in Islam. She even has a Chapter of the Koran titled in her name and about her. In all the Koran only 8 people have a chapter named for them and she is one of them. The whole world, Christian and Muslim, love her. If there is ever peace between the Christians, Jews, and Muslims it will have to come from Jesus Christ, through His Blessed Mother. We must remember that Jesus began His public ministry with His first miracle of turning water into wine...at the urging of His mother. We too should do as the servants at the wedding did... go to Jesus with our problems, through His mother. And she also tells us what she told them....now do what He tells you.
I am amazed you where raised and educated Catholic and know so little about our blessed mother. How in the world did that happen?

im roman catholic, too, only i wasn't raised as a practicing catholic (even thought both of my parents were) and so i really dont know all that much about my religion, however, i do believe in God and saints and mary and i pray the rosary. i personally find it easier to believe in the virgin mary just because she seems more.. touchable? i mean, God just seems like this HUGE power that i can't really grasp, you know?
i dont know if my answer made sense, and maybe since i am neither hispanic or a strong practicing catholic i am not really qualified to answer your question. but i tried :)

To me, all the saints. including The Virgin Mary, there important to me and God himself. I'm Mixed so I have a little Hispanic in me. The reason Latino American's take her as most important is because she is the mother of Jesus Christ. and was known to be worship for protection and peace. They would put flowers like Roses to her and Candles and pray to her. I do the same thing but also to other saints of God's Kingdom. That's why.

Mary is the New Ark of the New Covenant of Jesus Christ. Remember the Holy Spirit came upon her to create the Savior. Yet, the Blood that Jesus Christ sacrificed for humanity's sins would come from this human woman, Mary.
Besides, the 4th commandment states that we are to honor our father and mother. What would Jesus do? You know He would honor His mother. A foretelling of this relationship can be seen in King David and his mother Basheba. He allowed her to sit on the right of his throne.
All ages shall call her blessed. A title of honor for her heroic "yes" Besides she is the first Christian to personally proclaim Jesus as her Savior.

Martin Luther additionally believed in Christ's presence in the Eucharist as properly as in the Sacrament of Confession. he's given so lots extra credit than he's due. All he did became into plant the seed. He did no longer do lots different than translate the Bible into German, Sola Scriptura and Sola Feda. different than that, he became right into a sturdy Catholic. He did no longer decide to bypass away the Church, he became into making plans to alter it from the interior, yet to to nationalism and different circumstances, he had to bypass away the Church.
