O.K. Myths aside...It is not illegal to own a suppressor. It may be regulated, but not illegal.
When you are dealing with a metal projectile traveling at over 800 f.p.s.: Wouldn't you prefer it to be manufactured by someone you can sue if it malfunctions? Get legal..and buy one.

the legality of owning a firearm suppressor is determined by your state of residence. contrary to popular myth, a civilian may own a suppressor providing they satisfy the same regulations and restrictions as handgun ownership in those states that allow it. suppressor cans are registered just like handguns.

suppressor designs vary widely, and are too technical to go into in a short forum like this. suffice it to say, an effective and long-lived suppressor design is beyond anyone without a background in machining tools and processes.

if you try to "make" your own at home, and get caught in possession of it, you face a federal firearms charge.

don't do it. if your state allows it, buy one legally.

given that you didn't state what you are suppressing I'd say "enable him or her" since my back ground is psychology..my question is why?.. but the world let alone YA is filled with curiosities that defy understanding

not very hard but they are illegal unless you are military/law enforcement or carry a federal firearms license.
