Ok, lately I've been shocked to learn how many men cheat on their wives or girlfriends...I'm almost 30 and never realized this before.
Why do people cheat? And if they cheat, what are they feeling for their significant others at that moment? Also, what do they think of the person they are cheating with? How many cheaters do you know?

I personally don't know any cheaters but I've heard enough about them. People cheat because they lack real love for their significant other. When they cheat, they push their sign. other to the back of their mind. What they think of the person they're cheating with depends. It varies with different people. For some it's just the sex. For other's they are more attracted to them than their sign. other. Any way you put it, though, it's wrong. There's no excuse for cheating except that you have a weak heart and can't love or respect. In that case, they don't deserve respect in return.

I know a couple of people of people who've cheated, both male and female. I wish I knew their reason's why but I put it down to insecurity, feeling neglected, showing off, etc. It would appear obvious to me that they are not thinking of their significant other at all at the moment and if they are they are very fleeing thoughts. They might get a pang of remourse then rationalize it to make it feel like it isn't a big deal and that if their partner's don't know that they won't get hurt. As for the person that they are cheating with I think majority of the time they are just using them to satify their own objectives. Cheating is a very, very selfish act and it has been around probably as long as mankind and will probably be here till eternity. I am engaged to the woman I admire, adore, respect and love. If at any time I should ever feel like cheating on her or she on me I hope that we are open enough to discuss it with each other and try to rectify any problems that may be creating this need for infidelity.

I believe I have an idea why husbands and wives cheat. When either are unable to supply the needs (mostly emotional) of the other, there exists a vacuum in a relationship. It may go undisturbed (no cheating) for a while until either meet a partner who can supply these needs. That's usually how affairs begin.
Not included are one night stands.

They do it because they're insecure or they're just jerks. Or maybe because they're just guys. I can think of one guy friend that's never cheated.
