they should be rewarded with praise or something special, but not money. Treat them to a family day out or another special thing that they like to do- pony rides, etc. They will feel rewarded enough just having quality time with their parents.
Rewarding them with money will not inspire them to do well for themselves, but for the money.
Later on in life, they will be rewarded in different ways for their achievements. If they expect money, they will be disappointed and will be left feeling unfulfilled.

Yes, but not with money. Parents should praise their children and tell them that they're proud of them. Perhaps the occasional trip to the amusement park or other venue is a good idea. Parents should encourage their children to always do their best, and witholding money because they made a B instead of an A or whatever only shows kids that they are not valued as much in their parents eyes.
Kids should be motivated to get good grades because of the educational and future benefits in all aspects of life, and money won't give them that incentive.

No way! All they will get is an "excellent work, keep up the good work", but that's it. Plus, they're not ready to handle money, given how irresponsible children are these days.
Good grades: Nothing.
Bad grades: Consequences.
May sound like a double standard but that's how it works in our community. Children have no say in what they WANT instead of what they NEED.

It doesn't hurt to show them you appreciate the work they do to maintain good grades. I wouldn't be overly indulgent, however, since kids come to expect more and more in reward value. So keep it simple and upbeat.

If it's within reason, then yes. You get better results with positive reinforcement than a negative one.
