ok a guy i knew had died and i was with him when he died. now he had just eaten a big meal and as soon as he finished, he went out to play soccor and all the sudden he collapsed. when he was rushed to the hospital, the doctor said that since he had just eaten and didnt digest properly so when he ran to play soccer he just died......i dont get it!

Could he have eaten too fast, possible not swallowed all the way, and ended up choking when he was running? Ask the doctor for more details, or his family.
I am tremendously sorry, that must be a horrid thing to have happen around you.

I don't get it either. Sounds like Sudden (Adult) Death Syndrome, which can be brought on by Cardiomyopathy - a condition of the heart that is degenerative and shows few (even no) symptoms. Perhaps eating followed by brief exercise placed too much strain on your friend's heart.

THe body devotes a lot of the blood supply to digestion, especially of a big meal, he probably overloaded his circulatory system.

It sounds like a undiscovered cardiac defect. That is often the cause for sudden death at sports like running, soccer, football and others.

There has to be more to it than this. Was there a post mortem done, perhaps he had an undiagnosed heart defect or something. You don't die from exerting yourself after eating unless there is something else wrong.
