How little?

My son was in third grade last year and had to do a book report -- a biography of some famous person. He had to give his report in front of the class, and could if he chose dress as the person.

Most of the kids gave boring reports about sports stars, pop singers, or the occasional historic figure.

My son chose Curly Howard -- yes, that's Curly "I try to think, but nothing happens!" of the Three Stooges.

At the end of his report, his big sister ran into the room and hit him in the face with a pie. It was utter and total pandemonium.

I guaranTEE you that if you have several people get hit in the face with a pie, not all at once but at key points within the play, the kids will wet their pants from laughing so hard. There doesn't have to be a reason for it -- just every so often, have somebody run on stage and whap somebody else in the kisser with a paper plate covered with whipped cream.

For extra yuks, work it out so that at the end of the play, the kid who has been running out on stage to pie somebody gets pied instead. The only thing kids love better than seeing somebody get pied in the face is seeing somebody get his comeuppance.

for some reason little kids think hurting yourself is hilarious. i have no idea how this relates to your play but try to work with me. kids like funny dances and songs....good luck with your play.
