1. Wash the affected area, especially the webs of the toes and deep folds of skin, with soap and water twice a day or at least once before going to bed and wiping dry with a clean cloth to avoid moisture.
2. Clip the nails and keep them clean.
3. Prevent or promptly treat any injuries or infections using antibiotic ointments.
4. Apply antifungal ointment to the webs of the toes and sides of the feet daily.
5. Be sure client uses properly fitting foot wear.
6. Raise the affected limb at night to reduce the swelling.
7. Be sure client takes his/her meds.
8. If client's filaria has led to elephantiasis, show no revolusion.
9. If client's medication has side effects, treat those symptoms.
