Well I'll tell ya - I'm in NC and looking for a new job. The company I work for is losing work because other companies are using (legal?) immigrants to out bid us. These immigrants cannot speak a lick of English. Their work quality is substandard, but they get the contracts because they work for peanuts! I can barely make it on what I make because of all the taxes and stuff I have to pay.

I dispute the overall study which concludes (not for NC) that immigration doesn't have much of an impact on jobs. They do not break out legal immigration, so people who head up companies employing many are counted in the same as an unskilled, uneducated worker.
Also, they do not look at whether wages dropped, only whether the jobs are there - in an up economy. What happens when the economy turns around?
My biggest issue is the degredation of schools and services by people whose income bracket means they don't pay their own way, even if they pay taxes. There are too many. 100,000 could be here and not be felt, much. 12 to 20 million is a very big problem, however.

No, I can't tell you it's a good thing, because it isn't! It proves again, if proof were needed, that big business don't give two craps for American citizens .. they want to make a quick buck, and the traitors on Capital Hill are too spineless to do anything about it ... this is what will happen in all States if we're not vigilant, and use our vote to get rid of the deadbeats in Washington come November ...

Doesn't surprise me. It is all very logical, if you think about it.
Like I said before, there are only so many jobs. If illegal immigrants keep coming into the country, and taking the "jobs the Americans don't want to do", eventually, there will be no jobs left. There is not an endless supply. If there were, we would have NO unemployment.

I find the study a crock,personally.Fine,maybe N.C. isn't having a problem but I truly find it hard to believe and the guy with an unpronouncable name that did the study couldn't even say for sure.
I,too,feel our educational intstitutions are the places where it is the worst.
As a parent and an educator I find it horrifying that we have to go back to school to get "re-educated" at OUR expense to learn their language so we can teach them,and we have to learn "diversification" so we can teach all thier heritage and religions but aren't allowed to talk about our own or pray in school,much less say the PLEDGE of ALLEGIANCE.
It drives me nuts and it shows a distinct lack of common sense.
Let me learn Spanish so I can teach English.
