I hear sometimes about people bringin their children to work not like kid to work day or something but often and this sounds redundent because this has the equivalent distraction about bringing a animal into a school because it would be distracting and slow down work so I am not shure why people do it but if they cant afford daycare maybe the parents should consider getting different job intervals to me this just seems annoying so why do people do this

I say kudos to the employers who understand family dynamics and the willingness to accomodate their employees! I think that it encourages a respectful workplace and loyalty to a job, in addition great office dynamics and high levels of esteem.

Obviously it doesn't mean that the workplace should become a pseudo daycare with people brninging their children to work to run rampant on a daily basis, but there is a medium that works.

well i was in a situationwhere i took my baby to work with me for a few hours here and there... i mainly worked from home
as long as the child is a content child and does not caus ea distraction then it is ok
everyone is in a different situation so you should not judge.. and i depends on the workplace environment
during the school holidays i might take my son with me to the office on one day... he loves it and is a great help... he does a lot of running around filing papers away for me
i do not find him distracting but he is always so good when out in public

I have taken my son to work with me before, but only under certain situations. I work for a dentist, and I only have taken him on days when we are not seeing patients, and I am only doing catch up work. Also this is only on rare occasions when one of these days falls on a day when school is out or during the summer. He is 10, so I don't have to keep an eye on him all day. I put him in the break room with snacks and a tv and he stays entertained for quite awhile.

I use to take my kids to work with me. I managed an office for a home health company and if something happened they had an appointment or whatever I would often take them to work instead of making another trip home then back. We set up one of our spare offices with a table, TV, DVD and they would take their coloring books movies etc. and play while Mom worked. As long as the kids aren't creating a problem and can listen and be respectful I don't see a problem with it and neither did my employers.
