Yes. Two meals is reasonable if you do not burn off a lot of energy. One meal is too much for you digestive system. The stomach needs something to eat. When there is no food in hours, it starts to eat itself. That's how you wind up with a lot of stomach troubles several years down the road.
If you want to fast, don't take a morsel of food no matter how small. The stomach senses that there is food and starts activating again, making you only more hungry. When you don't put more food in it, the acid just eats up the insides of the stomach.
If you must eat one meal a day, it is better to parcel it out over the course of the time, because of the stomach acting up.

You should eat small meals throughout the day. At least 3 but I guess no more than 5.

Yes. The body prefers having 3 to 6 small meals a day. This keeps your blood sugar from falling and keeps your energy and metabolism up. When you only have one meal a day, your body goes into starvation mode and it messes it up. Also you will probably have problems with going to the bathroom.

Your body is like a furnace. In order to keep it burning energy at a steady pace, it should be fed equal amounts of fuel several times per day. If you only eat one large meal a day, it's like throwing a bunch of logs on a fire. It will burn hot for awhile, then slow down until the next day. You need to keep your metabolism constant. Eating one meal a day can also mess with your blood sugar levels, leading to diabetes and ultimately, death.

YES! If you only eat once a day then you won't have any fuel for your body to burn and that results in no energy. And if you are trying to lose weight that is one of the worst ways to try to lose it. The reason for this is: Your body thinks that you are starving it and will hold on to everything it has, including fat. So my answer again...Yes, one meal is not enough
