I've onyl been with my boyfriend for a little over ayear but he has said that we would be engaged by New Years this year..I'm really confused because I don't see this happening..if it was he would be saving money for a ring..he isn't.. he always brings up how we're going to be together, what kind of pets we'll have, where we'll live, how many kids, etc. I feel obsessed with wanting an answer or something to happen just because he's spoken so much of a dream of a future together..I hate this! I just want to know if I'm wasting my time. How can I know? He told me he got me somthing I'd really love for my brithday. I highly doubt its what I really want, lol. How can I know for sure? Am I wasting my time? I'm 23 and want a relationship with someone whos serious.

The only way your going to know if he's serious or not is to sit down and have a deep, honest heart to heart. Tell him exactly what your feeling, what your wants are etc., as it sounds like he's doing all the chirping right now. Communication is the soul of any relationship, so keep it alive and talk about your dreams, hopes and realistic goals for the future. Best of luck to you.

I'd put your valuable money on your intuition! A woman's intuition!

Even though you are 23 years old, don't rush into something that sounds like it might not be YOUR vision. Sounds more like HIS.

You both need to be ready to make that commitment. He might be ready to pop that question and have all the plans, but the real question is... What do you really want?

Be patient and don't let a ring or something materialistic be the deciding factor on both of your futures. I don't think you're wasting your time, but make sure you pull the seriousness out of him and let him know how much this means to you.

Knowing whether or not he is the right person takes time and understanding. Crawl before you walk, Walk before you run!

Once you've done that.... you know you've got a pretty solid foundation!

Did you hear that...?? Sounds like wedding bells...Hmmm?

Good Luck!

To be honest I need the answer to that question too. I have been with the same man for over 8 yrs and we have kids(3) and no ring yet. He has made comments about it. But I think it's my fault we are not married I told him I want a huge wedding and a great reception. It only happens once and I want to remember the day forever, lol

I think he is one of those who wishes to settle down earlier in life and if you want it as well go for it. There is no right age to marry, just the right time. I think he is pretty serious judging from his effort.

If you are not on the same frequency, then move on. Otherwise, bless you!

what my boyfriend did was get me a promise ring first and you can make payments on a ring if its over like 200$ but tell him you want a promise ring first then wait and see what happens after a while

he doesn't ask really.... it is something that is discussed BETWEEN TWO MATURE ADULTS.However, you are only 23 why marry now, are you looking forward to your divorce? Trust me, live a little before making the big step...trust me I know from experience...wait. He won't be your last!

Sweety- don't push him too much you may scare him but at the same time when he talks about this stuff ask him when he plans on marrying you. If he is going to talk about this stuff you should be talking about your wedding.

Well unless you get serious and start talking to him about it - I wouldn't think if I was him that you are serious. Talk to him about it.
