I don't have an answer, but........VERY GOOD QUESTION?? Where is all the Muslim logic when you ask for it??

Environment. American Muslims realize that America is a great country with some flaws but it still is the best country in the world otherwise we would not be here. We respect the American way of life that includes the freedom of speech and know that if we reject that right for others, how secure would our beliefs be. We also know the truth of all the prophets and a cartoon can not change their service and impact on the world.

American Muslims are more integrated into the mainstream culture. Many of them are American converts and others came here for the freedom we have in this country. Muslims from the Arab world and Asia are more likely to move to Europe if they move because of economic pressure.

there is no reason to react in a violent manner. its forbidden to make cartoons, or negative creations about any prophet, not just prophet mohammad (peace be upon them all)
reactions to this, and other things that we dont agree with can be done in a peaceful civilized manner. some have just taken their actions too far, and are acting in a very dangerous obnoxious manner, that a lot of other muslims dont agree with.

American Muslims have for the most part assimilated with american society and know how to take a joke. European Muslims on the other hand live in their own communities and are often socially disadvantaged. Therefore, they are easier to tick off.

Not all other Muslims acted violently. However, I'm sure the American ones were being rational and realized that throwing a fuss wouldn't help anything. I am sure they had other issues to worry about as well.

Because, contrary to popular belief, being a "muslim" does not automatically make you a violent savage. Muslims in America are just like all other Americans of all other religions.
People in the middle east did not riot because they are muslims; they rioted because their governments incited them to do so. Inciting hatred against the west allowed the governments there to temporarily distract their people's attention away from their incompetance. Normally, in that region, a riot would be quickly crushed by armed authorities.

Could it be because they know good and well that American feelings toward Muslims are...uh...not friendly, and that, if they had made even a peep, they would have been clapped into a jail cell quicker than they could say Allah help me?

It's their diet. And the environment there something spiritual like the dark force. Hmmm I sense a presence I have not felt for a long time... It might also be that they get to use toilet paper here.
