Sometimes you have to give the remote a shake, or slap it against your hand a couple times to get it to work.
But eventually batteries do completely die. Then you're out of luck. Rather than actually changing the channels by physically getting up, you're more likely to say, "the heck with this, I'm going outside".
Most likely God has done that. Ever since His remote control batteries died, He's become preoccupied with something else.
And all us humans are left here stuck on the equivalent of The History Channel, where it's ALL Hitler (bush), ALL the Time.

God doesn't micromanage. We all have free will to make our own choices. We are not a bunch of marionettes with God pulling the strings. That's just not how it works.

Nothing of the sort. He doesn't try to control us. He gave us free will. He wants us to come to Him because we love Him, by our own choice.
