The other night Croc Dundee was on TV, haven't seen it for years,, in the opening shot there is a wide shot of New York and the dominate feature is The Twin Towers,, it struck me while watching the movie(shot in 1984) how much the world has declined ,, and how innocent we were back then,, It seemed that the towers and the loss of those towers was the beginning of a whole change of life for a generation of people who knew only good times and peace,, do yo see the changes too

Yeah, you are probably right.
Actually, as a New Yorker, I was really struck by the Towers missing the first time I was driving around in downtown Manhattan. It was also such an imposing landmark that was always there, that you never thought about. When I was looking for a building nearby, on Murray Street, it was very disorienting that the Towers were not there.

Plus, I worked there for many years (on the 70th floor of 2 WTC) and was also amazed at how awesome and mighty the towers were. So many amazing things about working in the tower, the view of Manhattan, Brooklyn, NJ and the NY Harbor. I was working there the first time it was bombed, and that for me was a life changing experience, even though I wasn't hurt and I got out ok.

Nah. The fall of the USSR sort marked the start of the decline. The Free Democratic world won and didn't know what to do now. You used to be able to let your kids go play in the neighborhood but babyboomers fear mongering and having to be scared of everything ruined that. Their being scared of everything began in the 90's.

Events like that can have an impact on you like that more at certain times in your life. It depends on your age at the time I think. For me it was the JFK assassination.....seemed like things started going down hill from then. You just have to look for what good you can find in the world and take comfort in that.
