You are asking 2 questions.
1) Is their some kind of minimum intelligence requirement to atheism? No, it's very simple. There is no god and nobody is his prophet. Got that? OK you are free to go.
2) Atheism and morality--Since there is no Sky Daddy telling us what to do we will have to work out a code of conduct that works for us. I like Kant. Person shall not be used as things. I also like, before acting consider what the world would be like if all persons decided to do the same thing. This is just a short beginning of godless morality.

Based on your inaccurate classification of atheists as stupid, I would have to label the question as STUPID.

Most of you people are not actually against atheists. You just feel bad about being too weak and dependent to set yourselves free, and harbor resentment towads those who don't have to follow the meaningless self-imposed rules.

Atheist are relatively non-judgemental, because there is no place for hypocrisy or self-righteousness. Morality is, for the most part, subjective.
An atheist would define morality in terms of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you", and also take legality into account. Is that really so stupid.

A believer would define morality by what is in the old book - [unknown author; contradictory terms; subject to interpretation] - I'm sure that is far less stupid.

Atheism and morality don't go hand in hand. To become an atheist is the most incompetent excuse in the world. Being just a sinner is better.

Atheism is just an opinion on the existence of the divine. Why care?

Morality is a human thing. Although moral codes are written into religions, the two can and do exist seperately.

I think Atheism deserves just as much respect as any religion, as long as that religion does not incite violence. Atheism is a religion in itself, since it is a belief system, one that refuses to accept the possibility of the existence of such a concept as divinity, or in other words, one that is based on the belief that there is no such thing as a higher power. I'm not an atheist by any means, but I don't see it as illogical, closed-minded or even immoral as some might say. If anything, it is probably the most logical of all belief systems. Saying it's closed-minded and immoral is simply prejudice from misinformed people and from people who choose to be ignorant about it. The belief that a deity does not exist is in my opinion just as valid as the opposite belief in that it is just that, a belief, and everybody's free to believe whatever they want as long as their beliefs don't incite violence against others.

Yes, a person can be too stupid to be an atheist. If a person doesn't listen to reason and doesn't like logic, then that person may not be smart enough to be an atheist.

Atheists can be very moral people. They derive their morality from within and from their interactions with other people. (They don't need to have another person tell them how to behave: they can figure out how to do it on their own!)

Each atheist is different just as each christian, each muslim, each jew, each pagan etc.. is different. We are all not the same. Levels of morality can be different as it can be with any belief system. The only real difference is for a lot of atheists is just that they don't believe in the existence of deities. Many don't care about who follows what belief so long as their right to believe as they will is at least left alone.

it is the christian who is totally closed minded and does not have a mind of his own. You follow like sheep (hey, your religion call you sheep) not asking questions, not even reading the book for your selves. christians can be the most immoral people on earth.....they just think they can pray or confess and it is all okay. You are accountable for your actions no matter who you are. At least Atheist and Pagans take responsibility for their own actions and don't blame an imaginary all evil being....."the devil made me do it" ...... how lame. We have christian women killing their kids in the name of your god claiming "it was satan". I am proud that I am not christian, I am a very moral person and take responsibility for what I do!

I don't think its the atheist who are close minded i think its the people that dog on that religion that are everyone has there right to believe in what they want to so what if there not Christians should it really matter? If you base someones intelligence on there religion that's just sad.
