Brandy is distilled wine and it kicks it up to about 40%-45% alchohol making it 80-90 proof Brandy has the effect of warming your toes and nose when you are cold when taken in moderation. In the Alps, the St Bernards that were rescue dogs had a little barrel (keg) on a collar around their neck so that when they found the lost hiker / skier they could have a few sips of brandy to warm up their circulation. Most Brandies have flavoring added to them to simulate what they were distilled from Peach, apricot, blackberry are the more popular flavors

Bandy is alcohol. It is basically distilled wine, all cognac is brandy, however all brandy is not cognac. You must be from the Cognac region or France to be considered cognac. Enjoy brandy(cognac) is great stuff drink it room temp from a snifter.

Re-read your question. I think you were confused. In any event, Brandy is alcohol. It is made from wine by distilling and therefor more powerful than wine.
