Now I ain't any kind of brawler, you understand. I was too small to get in fights when I was a kid, and I'm too big to get in them now.

But I am strong and reasonably fast. And I've got some moves. I have the reach on Him, and I have the science. In terms of book-learnin', at the very least, I'm probably a good deal brighter than He was and I outweigh Him by 50 pounds, easy.

I think I could have kicked Christ's asss.

I'm not saying I ever would-- of course I wouldn't. Jesus was a nice man. But I'm pretty sure I'd have made quick work of Him.

It is the sort of thought that gives one pause.

Meh, mebbe, but He'd have a few years on you. He was in his prime, and pretty good with a bullwhip. I wouldn't give you better than even odds.

He was non-violent and offered no resistance when strapped in for the long haul. You got that much balls sonny boy? Now Paul was different. a mass murderer til he saw the light and then he kept on bitc* slapping people as he said in one of the books.
Got any loved ones? Like a mom or brother or sister or dad. How bad a kick *** are you if one of them is on their death bed and you are at their side in the hospital. You gonna pray or kick Jesus' *** big boy? What you gonna do? That's what I thought.

LOL!
You think so?
Do you think you could have stood up under the torture Jesus went through the night He was arrested?
Could you live through being lashed thirty-nine times by a couple of Roman gladiator types, with a whip that has bits of metal, stone, and broken glass tied into it?
Could you stand up to being kept awake all night long, and dragged to three separate trials, including being beaten in the face while your hands are tied by various soldiers?
Could you handle having a crown of plaited thorns forced down onto your forehead until it imbedded itself into your flesh, making the blood run into your eyes?
But, even after you've been through all of this, it's not over yet:
Could you deal with a forced march, with a heavy beam of wood, through the city, leaving footprints of blood behind you and surrounded by people you loved who had turned on you?
Could you stand having spikes driven through the flesh of your wrists and ankles, holding you tight to the wood of that cross, having it lifted up in the air and forced down into a hole with you on it...and being left to hang there for something like six hours?
Could you walk out of your tomb alive, after being taken down from that cross, dead, and placed on a cold stone slab for a couple of days, with a huge stone rolled across the door blocking most of the air from circulating? (We won't insist that you do all of this in a desert, although Jesus did...)
If you can do all of that...I will concede that you might be as tough as Jesus....
It's the sort of thought that gives one pause....

you would not have been able to do it, for He would have known before you did what your thoughts would be. just as He knew judas would betray Him, and peter would deny Him three times before the rooster crowed. not being violent, He would have told you what you would try to do. just as He knew the romans were coming for Him that night, the ones judas betrayed Him to.
