What do you mean where does it go? I wasn't aware it went anywyere...although if it's open, the carbonation will fizzle out...

with the carbonation, when a soda goes flat the carbonation leaves w/ the flavor

probably changes it's chemical form... chemical reactions within or with heat, etc from it's environment. which makes it lose it's flavor.

milk goes bad over time. same for soda, but just at a much slower rate.
