It's all about presentation, really. Yeah, they both taste good (I'm more of a dough person myself)...but it's a little more socially acceptable to get a cookie from a plate and go about your business, than it is to gather around a bowl of dough to get your face n fingers all sticky.....although, I guess that really does depend on the nature of the social event.... ;^)

They sure do taste pretty good uncooked, raw eggs aside, but they keep longer and are easier to transport when cooked, so you can share the goodness with all. It's hard to take a bowl of melty cookie dough somewhere and tell everyone with their grimey hands to dig in. Don't you agree?

both the ama website and cdc website can direct you to image galleries of what salmonella looks like when it afflicts the body (which can become fatal). a look at that and anyone will appreciate the 35 or so minutes baking requires. if you like the taste and don't happen to have any pasteurized eggs on hand, try mixing:
2 cups flour
1 stick butter/margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
This mixture, which is a base for any fruit crumble, is about as close to the consistency and taste of raw cookie dough -- but without the horrific, diarrhea- and vomit-enducing side-effects that raw eggs cause.

Well I do love chocolate chip cookie batter and brownie mixture, of course with walnuts. But the cookies baked taste much better than store bought. Plus because the batter has eggs in them, it is not a good idea to eat the batter because of the risk of se manila poisoning from raw eggs.

You have to cook/bake cookies otherwise you will get sick from the raw egg. Unless you would rather be sick that is. It only takes 8 to 10 minutes to cook the cookies. Not really that much time and energy at all.

Because they're delicious! I personally don't like cookie dough. Plus, it's not the best idea to east raw egg, which is in most cookie dough recipes. Also, you can't decorate a piece of dough with frosting or designs. Baked cookies are FUN and much less perishable than dough. Mmmm... cookies!!

1) Because cookies are comfort food.
2)Because baking cookies reminds us of how our moms used to make them for us when we were kids, with a glass of milk, of course.
3)Because they make the whole house smell like vanilla and chocolate, and it makes everyone who visits feel at home.
4)Because that way, you can dunk them
Yes, I agree, cookie dough is good, but I'll take 'em baked any day. They're a classic that never goes out of style.

They do taste better, but we have to bake them so that we do not get salmonella poisoning from the raw egg in the cookie dough.

We don't all know they are better raw...I prefer mine cooked, although a bite or few of some cookie dough is yummy...
We bake them because they aren't cookies until they are baked...they are dough...just like a cake isn't a cake, until it's baked...it's just batter...

foil or any metal pan like the size of a casserole pan turned upside down and use like a cookie sheet. I've had to do that before.
