I do wonder what it's going to be like for our children someday. Will everyone eventually be afraid to fly the "friendly" skies? Will it be almost impossible for Americans to travel out of our country b/c every nation will want us dead? How will our children escape the "stereotype" that all Americans don't care, when that's so not true? Will there be enough jobs? Will you need to complete 6 years of college to make more than minimum wage? If the population continues to increase, will there still be "small towns" left, or will all towns eventually be cities? Is social security going to be around for when they retire? Will the cost of healthcare be so ridiculous that they can't afford it at all? With so few people left in the world who lived without electricity and modern conveniences, will they never appreciate the 'simple' things in life? How clean will the water and air be? Will it be safe to admit what religion you are without fearing death? How do I teach them about some people's hidden agendas? How do I provide for them when I am gone? What would happen if the US is invaded?

I don't think about this on a daily basis, but those are just some of the thoughts that go through my mind once in a while. I only have one daughter right now. I was pregnant with her when September 11th happened; and I was soooo scared then about the world I brought her into. I remember watching TV that night and I couldn't stop crying. I felt so vulnerable, and I wondered why I even chose to bring a baby into this world. Of course, I'd never change that I did, but I do worry about the state of the world and where it's going. It seems like people get OUTRAGED at the drop of a hat, over very silly things. Everyone is striving to be so politically correct, but at the end of the day, there seems to be more violence, rage and hate than ever. No one wants to offend anyone be "saying" the wrong things, so now when someone has road rage, instead of yelling some cuss words, they pull out a gun and shoot someone! It's horrifying to see how quickly people lose their tempers over the dumbest things. So many people suffer from depression and other mental illnesses, and never get treated for them. It's like one big circle. The more we try to "do things right" it seems to make things worse. It feels like it will never end.

Ok, huge downer now. SORRY! Didn't mean to ramble out my frustrations on your question.

No... not really. I mean, if you thnk about it so many things have happened in the past hundreds, if not thousands of years, that I'm sure parents of EVERY generation have asked themselves the same thing. Overall, I think that the human race is getting better as far as advances that help people as well as human rights, and all sorts of issues that were worse before this day and age. I'd be more worried if somehow time went bakcwards and I'd have to worry about my kids living in the pasts that we only learn about in school and college... then again, I'm alway curious as to what'll happen in the future and if I am a good enough parent that my kids will know how to handle all sorts of stuff in a way to better themselves and the future of their own children... :-)

Yes I worry about it almost everyday. I have a 2 year old and I wonder how she will have morals and intelligence and the strength to stand up for what is right when literally everyone is doing the "wrong" things. I just try to have faith that my husband and I will raise her right and show her the life she should live and keep God in her life and always stay close enough to her that she trusts us and always comes to us. But then there's the fear that I will raise this little girl to make a difference in the world and some one else will hurt her, while they are doing the wrong things.

I wonder that all the time about my daughter. Will she be happy? What will she chose for her career? Will she be more successful than anyone in my family? Will she have her own family? but even my mother wondered those things about us and her mother about her. Now a days we have to wonder will she finish high school? Will she have sex at an early age? Will she goe to college? Will she do drugs? But also the more i think about it the more i have to put my faith in her and the way i raise her. i have to trust her decisions and teach her about consequences of her actions. Maybe that will give her a little guidance on what will become of her.

My grandparents said the same thing during WWII. My parents said the same thing during the Vietnam era. This is common for every generation to think this way but it really isn't much different than it has always been.

It scares me a lot. But if we try to raise them right, church, good people, sharing, etc, then hopefully we'll steer them in the right direction.
I hope God's hand will be upon my children as they are in the light of the world. That is my only prayer in life.

yeah I do wonder about it sometimes......but all I can do is teach my child how to evaluate his choices and make the best one possible for him. I am supportive and positive and he knows that I will be there for him whenever he needs me no matter what. We just have to trust that this world will get better and that with every genoration will come hope of change for the better of us all!!

Yes, I'm afraid of living in a republican paradise, where only 5% of the country can afford college, we have to pay for air to breathe, and you have to buy malpractice insurance yourself before you go to the hospital in case your doctor makes a mistake.

I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside.

Give them a sense of pride to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.
