On most islands fall (Sep-Nov) is the quietest. All islands will have tourists all the time, but in my experience summer tends to be jam packed as well as winter / whale season (Dec-May). September and October has good weather, more kids in school and a few less tourists. Airfare is uusally cheaper then too, but with gas prices the way they are now, who knows ?!? I agree, anytime is a good time to visit - fall is my preference though.

The best time to come to Hawaii is 365 days of the year. Summertime, we get a higher volume of US Mainland and European visitors. Wintertime, we get the Asian and Canadian visitors. We do not have the sever weather that you may be accustomed too.
If you would like to be away from the tourist, dont stay in Waikiki. Stay at a bed and breakfast, a beach house or a hotel outside of downtown Honolulu. There are lots of great places other that Waikiki to stay. Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Aloha! I lived in Honolulu for 2 years. The best times to travel there are the end of November and December. People think it's a busy time so they tend not to go during the Holidays.

The best times on Oahu are Sep-Nov and Feb and May.
March-April is the most packed because of Spring Break.
December is usually busy on the North Shore because of Surfing.
Jun-Aug is busier than usual, but not too bad.

Don't go in June, in the blazing heat of summer. I'd say probably during the winter in January. But it's always busy.

May really isn't bad at all. But I would say go when kids are not on "spring break", or June-Aug.

either go right before or right after summer (april-may or sep/oct)
OR
go for christmas
have fun its beautiful there year round!
