I want to buy a Toyota Supra MKIV, but all I have found are used ones. I am still going to work on the engine and body, but can I trust a used Supra?

Depends on how the previous owner(s) treated the car. If they raced the hell out of it and never maintenenced it then there will be problems behind problems. I had a supra but it wasn't well taken care of before me so 2 head gaskets, engine rebuild, then a whole other engine put in didn't help. So anyway if there were problems that weren't taken care of it has a chain effect which will never be completely fixed.

supra have strong engines.. and well people buy them for this reason .. so the chance of you finding a supra that hasnt been pushed to the redline constantly is rare.. do you have any friends working for the police if so .. call em up and give them the VIN on that car and they can run a car report and find out everything about the car.. try to find a single owner.. make sure the car doesnt have any aftermarket parts on it.. (muffler..exhaust..etc).. you better be willing to drop some cash on this babey.. turbos are probably blown.. and engine was probably abused..but in the end it is a well designed car with a beautiful engine..

Just have it checked out real good by a professional mechanic and realize that the person who owned it before you probably beat the crap out of it.
