what is a franchised dealership?

i was curious to know what a franchised car dealership is?

Franchised means that a larger (parent) company looks after them, but their actually not that co, ie: Raceway Ford, or Raceway Jeep, or Raceway Chrysler. A non franchise would be for instance "Speedy Cars", or "Joes Classic Cars", etc.

this means they purchased the rights to sell a certain brand or purchased the name from a reputable dealer in another area to use it for there dealership, brings the customers in
