If so, what is your best memory of scouting? I am starting a Brownie Troop and am looking for some cool ideas!

Thanks!

Yes, and I am a leader now.

This past year my troop completed 8 Try-its, carved pumpkins, make gingerbread houses, make cat toys and delivered them to the local SCPA, we went on a library tour, had a skating and bowling party. Next week, we are going to the gymnastics studio for open tumbling and they are going to work with the girls for the Dancercize try-it. Our local bank, grocery store, police station and fire station offer tours and goody bags for my troop. We will participate in Adopt-a-Grandparent at the retirement home this year. We also work with a home for troubled parents by providing baby items and fill a local food bank with canned goods. Here are my favorite websites for crafts and patches:

I was a Brownie and then a Girl Scout. I enjoyed the day camp in the summer and camping out on occasions. I am 32 now so I can't remember the activities. We did learn sign language. A bunch of arts and crafts. Maybe you guys could volunteer at an animal shelter - walk the dogs or something. Entertain elderly people in nursing homes - Put on skits or something...maybe sing to them. Play around with pottery...You know what? I really don't know. You don't see many kids wanting to do things that don't involve video games or computers or even the tv. Good luck with your troop!

I was all the way from first through 12th grades I am now a leader for my 14 year old daughters troop and my other daughters brownie troop. It can be a challlenge getting all of the girls in a group to enjoy things as you will almost always have one that will complain. I have found at the beginning of the year I let each girl write on a peice of paper what badge they would like to work on first we then put all the slips in a bowl and draw out one, this is our first lesson. Also for our meetings we have the chore chart (this is in the handbook) and at our first meeting of each month we plan an outing for that month. If you check with your council office they will have all kinds of ideas that you can do as a troop and also council activities. Right now it is a toss up with all of my girls whether they like the trips to the ranch or camping better.

I was a Brownie in the late 80's. I remember we went to the local Air Force Base, sit up ons(I remember!) and we held a fashion show with our 2 "best dresses". We went to an international kids thing where we learned how to do a 4 strand braid and leaned a jump rope with stix games. Oh what fun brownies was! good luck!

My mom was our troupe leader. I remember a lot of the field trips we took - ice skating show, a play, tour of a fast food place, etc. The stories we made up in the van on the way to and from our trips were so much fun.

We did some stuff with puppets that was really fun. We made puppets and did our own puppet shows.

The Halloweeen party we did with bobbing for apples and a ghost walk and such was really fun too.

Yes. Unfortunately My most memorable momment was breaking my wrist while at Girl scout night at the skating rink.

I remember sit-a-pons. I don't think they even make them anymore. Or even know what they are.
