I think the 'us-them' attitude takes over. Until last week, I had total and complete respect for police officers and never had anything negative to say about law enforcement. But I was recently arrested and spent a night in jail. The reason for my arrest was justified, and I do not dispute that. But the officers who took me into custody were unnecessarily rough (I offered no resistance) - I still have bruises all over my body and my hands are still numb from the handcuffs being too tight and on my wrists for too long. Although I was polite and respectful, I was treated like a dog. I guess they figure if you break the law and you are in a jail cell, then they can treat you like an animal.
I just think it gets to be their mindset. Them versus us.

Well all the flipping off aside. I don't know where you are from but in Georgia you have to be in a MARKED law enforcement vehicle, LIGHTS and SIRENS must be activated before an officer can pull you over, that flashing the badge crap is nonsense. I don't know where you live but IF you truly believe you have a legitimate complaint, taking yours and his actions into account, then file a complaint at his PARTICULAR department and his PARTICULAR precinct. The flipping off is freedom of speech (even though it is not spoken word).
Fight the tickets BUT do research on the laws HE has to follow before you go into court.

Not all cops are crooked but I do know that there are cops who are crooked and will do stupid things thinking that they are above the law when they are not. They are there to enforece the law, but when they abuse their authority, that is a breach of the law. That cop was wrong for what was done. That was an abuse of power and it could have been attempted murder. File a complaint against that cop. It would have been a good idea to get the badge number.

first of all i dont know what it is like in your state but i live in ky and as far as i know it is the same in every state when a officer is off duty they cannot by law pull you over for any reason only a on duty officer has the right to do that i would not pay the tickets i would go to court and protest them for it sounds like it was not your fault to start with i worked on the force for 4 years and yes i do know that cops are like that i use to be one of them if you look at it like this if you had the power to do something would you do it yes you would but that ant the issue go to court protest the tickets and then if that does not work take out a law suit on the other party

yeh tell me about it! most cops are ppl who have found a job in which they can 'serve and protect' but who abuse their positions of power and authority for their own selfish needs (as in your case). if u relli think this is unfair i would make a complaint but if u dont want the trouble then just pay the fines (but from what u have said i dont think u should pay because it isnt rite)
basically if its a big fine complain but if its small then just pay it cos it wont b worth the trouble. through my experience it is the off duty cops that are the worst. maybe u shud just try and get away from one of these and if he catches u jus use the excuse 'i didnt no u were a cop u dont look like 1 to me i thaught u were stalkin me' then they cant relly do u 4 resisting arrest cos im sure they wud bloody love that b a s t a r d s

Sad to say, there is a rotten apple in every barrel but it doesn't spoil the whole barrel. It just makes it stink for a while until it is removed.

Don't paint all Cops with the same brush. Someday you may just need that blue uniform to cry on or hold to.

Your not the only one. Years ago, I had a off duty cop run a red light and almost hit me and my entire family. I said a few choice words to him as he Flipped ME off. When we pulled into a gas station to fuel up, he followed. So I approached his car to tell him he ran the red light. He pulled a gun on me. Now I did not know he was an off duty police officer at this point. He was driving a trans am. I jumped behind my husband and yelled he had a gun. We called the police and they informed me that he was an off duty police officer, and he DIDN'T pull a gun on us he Brandished a weapon. Well three years later we ended up testifying against him as he was getting fired. The only reason he got in trouble for this was because when I jumped behind my husband, he pointed the gun at my husband, and my husband is and was an off duty FEDERAL OFFICER. HEE HEE HEE

Maybe next time try being a b***ch instead of the responsible citizen you acted like. Cops really respect a loud mouthed b***ch with an attitude. You sure showed him what a nice person you are. Good Job!!!!

With the understanding that I never would have gotten them in the first place - and I know how to spell and type - IF I got two tickets, I'd pay my fines and slink away. You are not very popular with your local P.D. right now.
