Since full cheeks can conceal even the best bone structure, a round face can lack definition. Your best cut would be a cut with face-framing layers and choppy bangs can slim a full face and create the illusion of more prominent cheekbones. If you like short hair, try a bob with razored ends and cheek-grazing pieces, which breaks up the roundness and adds angles where they don't naturally exist. If short is not your thing, aim for looks that fall to the chin and longer. The extra length will help elongate a full face, making it appear more oval.

There are four different face shapes: Oval, Round, Square, and Heart. To determine the shape of your face, pull your hair back with a headband or elastic and look in the mirror. Trace the reflection of your face on the mirror along the hair and jaw lines with eyeliner.
OVAL:
TRY: Blunt or side-swept bags to cut down the length of your forhead, or a longish bob to add fullness to your face.
AVOID: Volume at the top, severely pulled back styles, and long, straight, center-parted hair, all which can make your face look even longer.
SQUARE:
TRY: Short, layered cuts (like a razored bob), side-swept bangs, deep side parts and layers that start at the cheekbones, which can balance angular features.
AVOID: Anything that emphasizes your jaw line, like blunt cuts and long straight styles.
ROUND:
TRY: A layered, choppy bob or long, face-framing layers. Side swept bangs and some volume at the top will balance wide cheekbones.
AVOID: Blunt cuts, straight bangs, flat hair and styles with too much volume, all of which can exaggerate the fullness of the face.
HEART:
TRY: Angled or side-swept bangs to minimize your forhead and soft layers that start above the chin.
AVOID: Chin-length cuts, which can draw attention to a pointy chin, and severely pulled-back styles that emphasize the width of your forhead.
