I was watching a show last night that said the most children ever born to one woman was 69! I had a conversation about this with a co- worker and both she and I are incredulous that this could ever be possible. My co- worker quickly did the math and figured out that this woman would probably have to have been continuously pregnant for 40- some years or thereabouts and/ or had multiples for several of those pregnancies. Has anyone ever heard this? Do you know the truth behind it or can you give me a reference to something similar?

Thanks!!!!

I know this question is old, but yes I do think it's selfish. For many reasons, actually. People who have children are only thinking about themselves. They aren't considering the actual life the child, and inevitably the adult, will have. The answer previous to mine made a good point, every parent expects the child to be on their own after age 18 but that simply doesn't happen in every case. Then the child, or teenager, is considered a burden. People have children for selfish reasons - wanting to know what the child will look like, wanting to solidify a marriage, wanting to have a caretaker for when the parent reaches old age, some have children out of fear, some have children without even considering an alternative because society says that's the thing to do. Continuing your genes is probably the most selfish reason I've heard...as if somehow your genes are so precious compared to every other human being on the face of this planet. Not to mention the fact that the child could have a horrible painful disease or mental disability. Having children IS selfish. If anyone honestly thinks I'm wrong, then tell me why you won't adopt a child that already exists instead? People seem to be utterly clueless what world they are actually living in. Their child won't become a star, chances are their child will live the next 50 years of their lives being a slave to the economy. Why would anyone bring a child into this world knowing the amount of suffering and the inevitable death? It makes no sense to me sometimes.

She had several sets of twins and triplets, so that cuts the pregnancy time down.
