my chihuahua is hairless in some areas. he is losing hair like in 4 or more spots already, i took him to the vet, and he just told me that is something genetic... my doggy is 6 months now..if someone is having the same problem with their chi. please write to me soon... i'll appreciatted ... thanks

My pug has a similar problem. It is genetic also. His caused by a skin mite and is called demodex. They do have treatment for it. They can take an oral pill or be dipped at the vet. You may want to ask if this is the same problem. Some dogs grow out of it. Good Luck

Where did you get your chi from? A breeder, a pet store, humane society. If it's a breeder call him or her and talk to them about it. Did you wash your dog in something new? Has your dog been exposed to anything such as chemicals, possibly plants that it may be allergic too? Is your dog scratching, could be fleas. Need more information

my neighbor has a chi. and the same happens during her preg.
Their vet says its nerves and prescribes something or other to help thru her spells

I think it's just a normal process that rodents go through. Chihuahua's are really just rats that bark, so these rodent problems should be expected.

Please take your dog to another vet. I'd want to hear someone else tell me that hair loss is genetic. It might be allergies, bacterial infection, or something else. Please get a second opinon.
