Look at how many launches there have been. And look at how many have gone wrong (well, a lot have gone wrong, but look at how many have caused loss of human life). And what do you mean by what may happen to the people of Florida? Unless you're refering to a rocket with radioactive propellant (think Cassini), theres not much that will happen. The closest people can get to launches at Kennedy Space Center is 3 miles. And thats if you're VIP or Launch Control. I don't know about those odds, but living close enough to see launches from my front yard doesn't give me any reason to fret.

Relax sunshine! They launch out over water from cape Canaveral, and its not a coincidence. As far as the the people on board.. Well I know I'd give my left nut to be able to be of use on one of those risky flights we are talking about. The fact is you would have people lining up to go, at a 300:1 risk factor.

Well think of it like this...This is something that people enjoy no matter what happens. For example fireman put their lives at risk but they enjoy doing what they do. But even though they say these statistics, if its your day, its your day. Because look at the chances 1 in 300 and they were the 1.
