I found what looked liked a bird egg on a rock when I went up to Lake Las Vegas with my folks last Sunday(It looked to be about the size of a tennis ball). I lef it on the rock cause my sister said to, I felt guilty about leaving it there, although I don't know if it was still viable or not.

But I was thinking I probably won't leave it if a scenario like that happens to me again. I don't think I could handle the guilt.

Although, what do you think?

I'm probably gonna go with my first thought and not leave it there, but I thought I should get another opinion from someone else.

No jokes or wisecracks excepted!

Thanks for the tip, I didn't see any birds or a nest when I saw the egg anyway.

Don't think it is a good idea to be picking up eggs. If you are to find one again leave it as it may still have an adult caring for it...or it could be unviable in which case you could not do anything about it anyway. Some birds do lay eggs basically on the ground, not really building a nest...more of a "scrape" and people sometimes pick up these eggs thinking they are abandoned when in reality they just removed an egg from a "nest" and end up killing the egg. Besides it is against the law for you to be in possession of an egg anyway, so it is best that you left it there.

i would probably move it. i was once told to hold a chook egg up to towards the sun and look at it and if its viable u can see the chick inside.( not sure if its true) but if it works for chooks ud think it would work for any bird egg. next time follow ur heart and move it, maybe to next to a tree???
but if it makes u feel any better even if it was viable it wouldnt have been much longer so moving might not have made a differnce.

You should turn it in to Project Wildlife or someplace like that who has anincubator and before you do that you should kindle the egg which means hold it up to a flashlight
