No matter how you hang it, so stripes are vertical or horizontal, when viewed the stars need to be in the top left. So if it's hanging vertical, it would actually appear backwards, but always stars in upper left when viewed by spectators.

It should not be displayed in foul weather. The US flag should be the highest flag displayed (others can be at the same height, but not higher). If it is to be raised to half-staff, you raise it full staff, and then lower it to half staff. It should always hang with the stars on top, close to the pole and the stripes on the bottom. But the flag is just a concept. There should be no law as to how it is to be displayed and destroyed. We print millions of postage stamps with flags on them each week. Are we not allowed to destroy them. You can't destroy a concept. Let's tell our politicians to stop wasting time with a flag burning amendment.

i hang mine on a flag pole, but dont let the flag touch the ground !
