People fear their own mortality, and having a sense of immortality makes people feel secure...like they won't be forgotten or become nonexistant.

Not all religions talk about everlasting life either.

Eternal life has nothing to do with the human body still living. It deals with the continuing life of the soul after the death of the flesh. Eternal life pertains to the soul continuing to live with God in Heaven after the human form's life has come to an end. This also has nothing to do with a fear of mortality and easing one's fear of dying. We all realize that we are going to die. Eternal life does not equal immortality. That is an unrealistic expectation kept by those who don't truly understand.

Christianity offers everlasting life WITH GOD. That's the important thing, being in the presence of God and living in a perfect place that He made for me would be the most amazing thing that I can imagine. He even promised that no one can imagine how amazing it's going to be. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of men the things that God has prepared for those who love Him"

Its everlasting life in Heaven or in Hell. You chose which one you would rather go to after you die. In Heaven you will be perfect and be having a jolly grand old time, and in Hell it is constant suffering.
I chose Heaven!

Do you want to stop exsisting forever, I'm sorry, I don't. Besides the afterlife is much better than this one.

you're okay with evaporating into nothingness? Cease exsisting for all eternity? It doesn't matter if you want that or if you don't, you will continue to exsist for all eternity, its up to you where you spend it.....
