A chihuahua would be a good dog to have in hot and dry weather because they are native to Mexico. They like to be warm, and sometime bask in the sun.

Obviously you don't want to get one of the northern breeds - malamute, husky, samoyed, spitz, elkhound, etc.
But any dog has to be protected from extremely hot weather - don't walk them in the hottest parts of the day, always have fresh, cool water available, keep them protected from the sun.

i think you should get a dog with short hair that is probably small. whatever kind of dog you get though you might want to always make sure it's healthy nad provide it water. just remember that dogs can't tell you if anything is wrong with them. and they are more sesitive to things than humans.
