I always just put jam on my toast alone, with nothing else on it. I've never tried putting butter on with the jam before.

I used to when I was a kid. I do not know if I grew out of it or if I am just lazy. I just do butter only now.

I hated tthat all my childhood. Really, my mother could NOT remember that I hated butter on my jelly toast and I always had to chuck it!!!!!! She loves butter and then jelly, so I guess she assumed everyone did!!!!!!!!

butter should ALWAYS be put on bread, anything else is a pleasant extra.butter and cream cheese;butter and peanut butter, butter on meat sandwiches....
and it must be real butter;none of your fake sh*te,margarine is sacrelige.
