You can try visiting one of these great discount travel sites (always check out their "last-minute" deals, too):

www.kayak.com, www.cheaptickets.com, www.qixo.com, www.cheapflights.com, www.mobissimo.com, www.farechase.com, www.sidestep.com, www.globester.com, www.cheaptravelnetwork.com, www.travelocity.com, www.orbitz.com, www.priceline.com, www.expedia.com, www.hotwire.com

Good luck.

Use Kayak to surf a variety of airlines at once. The web address is:

http://www.kayak.com

Kayak also provides fare alerts. You enter an origin and destination and the price you're willing to pay, and it will notify you by email the minute the fare is available.

The other option I would recommend is Priceline. Priceline offers "consolidator" tickets. Priceline buys tickets in bulk, and then resells them, for the price you bid on. You bid what you're willing to pay and Priceline will try to find a carrier who will accept your bid. Visit their website at:

http://www.priceline.com

And last but not least, you could become an air courier. Air couriers take packages for companies across the globe, by hand. The company shipping the package pays for most of the airfare, and you pay for the rest. Learn more at:

http://www.courier.org/

And, if you happen to know an airline employee, he/she may be able to give you a buddy pass, but those are for standby travel only.

Each airline has its own stand-by policy. Call their 800 number as ask about it. There may be a student stand-by policy, if you are still of school/college age.
